Sleek is a classically trained young artist who found his distinctive style by connecting street art with pop art to create a fresh new fusion genre. This juxtaposition challenges viewers to look again and re-examine their relationship with each piece.
Recently, Sleek has delved into his Scottish culture and after months in the DC Thomson archives has created a collection of 5 Limited Editions with Dennis and Oor Wullie inspired designs and translated these characters with social history into the contemporary art market.
Oor Wullie…Braw Limited Edition
Launched in April 2019, the ‘Nothing But Trouble’ collection depicts iconic characters for the present times and invokes fond childhood memories for the young and maybe the not so young.
Produced under license from Beano Studios and DC Thomson Media, each edition is limited to 195, comes with a certificate of authenticity and is hand signed by Sleek himself!
Sleek originals bring graffiti and street art indoors with dynamic backgrounds created with several layers of graffiti ‘tagging’ on reconstituted wood. After the final layer, the boards are distressed to give the appearance of having been ripped off the street wall to then be hung in the comfort of your own home.
The reimagining of these beloved characters has brought them back to life. They are available to the public through select galleries both in the UK and internationally.
